Knee Brace Size Guide

Three measurements, five minutes — how to size ROM and hinged knee braces correctly the first time.

Quick Answer

How do I measure for a knee brace?

Measure three points with a soft tape: around the thigh about 15 cm above the knee cap, around the centre of the knee cap, and around the calf about 15 cm below the knee cap — with the leg straight and relaxed. Compare the numbers with the product size chart or send them to us on WhatsApp for confirmation.

Why knee brace size matters

A knee brace only works while it stays in position. Too loose and it slides down the leg during walking, taking the hinges out of line with the knee joint; too tight and it restricts circulation and becomes impossible to wear for the hours a recovery plan requires. For ROM braces this matters double: the hinge stops only protect the knee if the hinge stays aligned with it. Three measurements prevent all of this — and prevent a return that hygiene rules would not allow once the brace is opened.

What you need

  • A soft tailor's measuring tape (not a metal one)
  • A chair — sit with the leg relaxed and straight out in front
  • Shorts or thin clothing, so you measure close to the skin
  • A helper if bending forward is difficult after injury or surgery

The three measurements

1Thigh circumference

Measure around the thigh about 15 cm (6 inches) above the centre of the knee cap. Keep the tape level and the leg relaxed.

2Knee circumference

Measure around the centre of the knee cap with the leg straight. Do not measure in the crease behind a bent knee.

3Calf circumference

Measure around the calf about 15 cm (6 inches) below the centre of the knee cap.

Write all three numbers down in centimetres. Compare them with the size chart on the product page — our stocked Adjustable ROM Knee Brace uses a standard adjustable adult fit with multiple straps, so your numbers mainly confirm suitability rather than pick between sizes.

Common sizing mistakes

  • Measuring over trousers — adds several centimetres
  • Pulling the tape tight or letting it sag — measure snug but not compressing
  • Measuring at the knee crease instead of the three points above
  • Ignoring swelling — a post-injury or post-surgery leg is larger; measure the leg as it is now
  • Guessing from trouser size, height, or general build

When to ask for WhatsApp help

Send your three measurements on WhatsApp before ordering if any of these apply: significant swelling, post-surgical restrictions, thigh and calf falling into different size ranges, a very slim or large build, or a surgeon's brace prescription you want matched. Sizing confirmation before dispatch is free — an opened brace cannot be returned.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size ROM brace do I need?

Our stocked Adjustable ROM Knee Brace uses a standard adjustable adult fit that suits most men and women — your thigh, knee, and calf measurements confirm suitability. Send them on WhatsApp and we will check before dispatch.

Where exactly do I measure?

Around the thigh 15 cm above the knee cap, around the centre of the knee cap, and around the calf 15 cm below the knee cap — leg straight and relaxed.

Should I measure the injured or healthy leg?

The leg the brace will be worn on, as it is now — swelling changes sizing, so measure close to ordering time.

What if my measurements fall between sizes?

Send them on WhatsApp — depending on the brace's adjustment range we will recommend the option that stays secure without being tight.

Do you provide fitting support?

Yes. Free fitting support is available at our DHA Lahore location, with knee measurement and optional foam padding (1mm, 2mm, or 3mm) based on your knee width. At-home fitting may be available with an additional surcharge depending on distance.
